We believe transparency is key.  At Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry (BBBSL), we commit to openly sharing mission outcomes as well as our financials with the public.  Further, our leadership has its eye on the ball.  Our Finance Committee reviews our financials and budgetary decision making monthly and our Board of Directors reviews them six times annually. Additionally, our Board of Directors reviews our annual performance dashboard six times annually.  Together, our leadership is committed to investing in efforts designed to achieve the best possible outcomes for youth and to sustainable, quality growth.

BBBSL was founded in February 2019 and opened its doors in April 2019.  Our FY 2018-2019 990 reflects a partial operating year including start-up expenses. 

Audits

BBBSL is an independent 501 (c)(3) member affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA). BBBSL has its own local Board of Directors with fiduciary oversight and decision-making responsibility and authority.  BBBSL 's fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30.  While South Carolina does not require nonprofits to conduct independent audits, BBBSL does so in compliance with BBBSA and to build confidence among its current and potential investors.
