The BIG News: June 2026

Final Days to Enter the BIG Golf Cart Raffle

The countdown is on! Our 2026 BIG Golf Cart Raffle ends June 5th, and we’re inviting our entire Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry community to help us finish strong.
Thanks to our generous partners at Joe’s Carts and TEKO, one lucky winner will take home a brand new 2026 TEKO Turbo Golf Cart valued at $8,995 — with all taxes paid.
More importantly, every $50 ticket purchased (the more you buy, the BETTER your odds!) helps support the life-changing mentoring experiences we provide for youth across the Lowcountry.
Proceeds from the raffle help us continue creating opportunities for Littles through:
- One-to-one mentoring relationships
- Career exploration and real-world experiences
- Consistent support that builds confidence, connection, and brighter futures
Every ticket purchased, shared, and promoted helps us continue creating and supporting meaningful matches across our region.
The raffle ends on June 5th, so now is the time to get your tickets and help us make these final days BIG.

Match Highlight: Hallee & Unique

When Unique joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry, her guardian hoped she would gain another positive role model and mentor in her life. At the time, Unique was struggling with feelings she couldn’t quite explain and often wanted to be alone. Her guardian wanted her to “have someone she could connect with, learn from, and build a meaningful relationship with outside of the family.“
That connection came through her match with Hallee.
Over the past year, Unique has become more open, confident, and excited about trying new things. She looks forward to spending time with Hallee, and their relationship has grown naturally through shared experiences and quality time together. One special match memory was a trip to the water park, where Hallee watched Unique light up with excitement all day long. “I always joke that she’s a little mermaid because she loves the water so much,” Hallee shared. Even now, Unique still talks about swimming in the wave pool, riding the slides, and planning their next adventure near the water.
Hallee has especially enjoyed seeing Unique’s outgoing personality shine. Whether she’s singing, reading signs and words around her, or eagerly sharing her thoughts, Unique brings energy and enthusiasm to every outing. Through consistency, listening, and creating a space where Unique feels heard, Hallee has built a strong foundation of trust that continues to strengthen their match.
For Unique’s guardian, one of the clearest examples of their bond came when Hallee invited the entire family to attend a hockey game together. Seeing how comfortable, happy, and connected Unique was with her Big Sister reinforced the impact of the relationship. “Unique talks about Hallee with so much excitement after their visits,” her guardian shared. “As a parent, it means so much to see your child feel seen, supported, and cared for by someone outside of the home.”
Today, Unique continues to grow with the encouragement of a caring mentor by her side, and both she and her family are grateful for the consistency, kindness, and friendship that Hallee brings to her life.

June Resources
For June, our monthly resource focuses on low-cost recreational resources for littles and matches. These can be ideas that littles can use at home or on their own, or for Bigs to do with them during match activities. If you have any questions, please reach out to your Match Support Coordinator, Dana or Avery!
BBBSL encourages our matches to focus on free or low-cost activities, and we aim to provide ONE FREE monthly activity for matches. Capacity at these events is limited, so we encourage Bigs to sign up as soon as their Littles confirm they can attend!

BBBSL will be at Jeni’s Downtown for our Ice Scream Social, a fun community event benefiting local youth mentoring programs. Whether you bring your Little, a friend, or the whole family, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy a sweet treat while supporting life-changing mentoring relationships across the Lowcountry.
Guests can enjoy delicious ice cream, connect with members of the community, and try a special featured pairing created exclusively for the event. Every scoop purchased helps support Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry and the meaningful experiences that help our matches learn, grow, and make lasting memories together.
We hope you’ll join us on June 11th for an evening of fun, connection, and ice cream for a great cause!

We are partnering with Katsubo for a special giveback day on June 27th, where a portion of all sales throughout the day will benefit local youth mentoring programs. This is a great opportunity to enjoy an incredible meal while directly supporting life-changing relationships for youth across the Lowcountry.
Guests can stop by anytime during the day to dine, connect with the community, and support a meaningful cause. Whether you’re coming with family, friends, or coworkers, every visit helps make a difference for our Bigs and Littles.
If you are joining us, please mention BBBS at checkout so your purchase is included in the giveback.
We hope you’ll join us in making this all-day giveback a success. Good food, great company, and an even greater impact for the youth we serve!

Kendra Scott Giveback

Back for another year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry was excited to partner with Kendra Scott for a special giveback event this May. The event provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with supporters, share our mission, and raise awareness about the impact of mentorship throughout our community.
We were also honored to be joined by Lindsay Jones, Miss Charleston, who helped us engage with customers and spread the word about the life-changing relationships made possible through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Local partnerships like these are incredibly meaningful to our organization. They not only help support our mission but also strengthen our connection to the community we serve. We are grateful for our long-standing partnership with Kendra Scott and their continued commitment to making a difference for local youth.
Be sure to check out Kendra Scott’s beautiful spring and summer collections while supporting businesses that give back to the community.
Celebrating Pride Month, National Safety Month, and Juneteenth
June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and recognize the importance of creating spaces where all young people feel accepted, valued, and supported. At Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry, we believe every child deserves to be seen for who they are and empowered to reach their full potential. Mentorship helps foster belonging, confidence, and connection, giving youth a trusted person who encourages them to be themselves and navigate life’s challenges with support.
June is also National Safety Month, a reminder of the importance of creating safe environments where young people can learn, grow, and thrive. Through consistent, caring mentorship, Bigs provide not only encouragement and guidance but also a sense of stability and security that can have a lasting impact on a child’s well-being and future success.
As we celebrate the month, we also recognize Juneteenth, a time to reflect on freedom, resilience, and the importance of creating opportunities for all young people to succeed. It serves as a reminder of the value of community, connection, and ensuring every child has the support they need to reach their full potential.
This month, we celebrate the power of acceptance, connection, and community. By showing up for young people and helping them feel safe, supported, and valued, we can continue building a brighter future for the next generation.
